Believing God by Beth Moore

This is how Beth describes this book in her introduction: "Faith is the way believers jump on board with god and participate in countless wonderful things He has a mind to do. Faith happens when believers believe. This book is about developing an action verb faith that invites the exhilaration of holy participation. It's about getting out there where we can feel the wind of God's Spirit blowing in our faces. It's about learning that we don't have to put down the Sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) to raise up the Shield of Faith."

This book was first published in 2004 and now Beth has brought it to us again. Her books are timeless and so valuable to the believer who wants to walk closer to their Savior. I have yet to pick up a Beth Moore book and not walk away with a more in-depth knowledge of the Word and have a more intimate journey with Jesus. As I learn more about Him, I learn more about myself, the woman He created me to become. Beth is a woman of God who has helped me grow in my daily journey with Him.

I love the cover and the idea of a hedge around me, all believers, as we sit and study and ponder His Word!!

Beth brings us seventeen chapters of belief. "The Primary reason God's Word can have such an effect on a believer's daily life is its vital association with the Holy Spirit."

The theme throughout this book is:
  • God is who He says He is.
  • God can do what He says He can do.
  • I am who God says I am.
  • I can do all things through Christ.
  • God's Word is alive and active in me.

From beginning to end this book is powerful. Here are a few of my favorites from this book:

"We know we're coming full circle with God when we stand at a very similar crossroad where we made such a mess of life before, but this time we take a different road!"

"God and Satan are both vying for authority over our mouths. Nothing is a greater threat to the enemy than a believer with the Word of God living and active upon her tongue, readily applied to any situation."

"No sin, no matter how momentarily pleasurable, comforting, or habitual, is worth missing what God has for us."

"We seek to be led by the Holy Spirit and discern when to implement certain practices. God alone must be the initiator in matters of faith (Heb. 12:2). We walk in faith where He invites us based on a working knowledge of His Word and a balanced prayer life."

"God's Word is our Sword of the Spirit, but we have to learn how to use it if we want to be a powerful force for the kingdom and against the darkness."

"A big difference exists between trying to manipulate God to give us what we want and cooperating with God so He can give us what He wants. The latter is our goal."

"Our part is to believe God. His part is to be God and do what is ultimately and eternally best. When we get to participate in a miracle, let's avoid ever letting another marvel at us or admire us. If we take credit when we receive what we ask, not only will we offend God and mislead people, we will place ourselves in the position to take credit when we don't get what we ask."

This is another outstanding book penned by Beth. She uses scripture all throughout this magnificent book, never turning from the Truth or adding to it. This is what I love about Beth. I know you too will love this book!

I have to share Beth's ending words as this journey closes. "Picture your vital place in God's lineage of faith. God is not keeping your score, but He is writing your testimony, just as He is writing mine. When He pens the final dot on our earthly time lines, His lasting testimony of each of our lives will be what we did...by faith. If I don't see you here, I'll meet you there. Until then, no more business as usual. From here to eternity, we're present-active-participle believing God. Stay a verb. Live out loud. And wake a few nouns." I just LOVE these words!!

This book was a gift from B&H Publishing Group for sharing my review with you.
