The Dandelion Field by Kathryn Springer

This is my first novel to read by author Kathryn Springer. It definitely won't be my last. How I have missed this gifted writer is beyond me.

It was the cover that drew me in and the title as well. I began reading The Dandelion Field and was immediately captivated. Springer brings these characters out beautifully.

The story line flows easily and Springer brings the characters together with charm. Each of these characters are carrying something within their heart that now is part of every decision they make. As we see these characters grow we see that they come to understand that their decisions have touched the lives of everyone they love.

What I love about this story is the realism. We have a young man who is part of the youth group. Grew up knowing Jesus and was taught right from wrong, but yet we see him fall into temptation and make a decision that changes his life forever. This is the real that I admire and love. We see the struggle in life even when we know Jesus and have a relationship with Him.

This young man gently shares Jesus with the young girl he falls in love with. Reminded me of how my now husband shared Jesus with me. These two come together and keep their relationship quiet. She has come into town with her mom and are quickly judged. We see the reaction of people who assume and fail to give people a chance.

The adult characters in this story know about loss and tragedy. It has scarred their hearts and changed who they once were. Funny how the circumstances that touch our lives can alter our view on life and on others. We see their pain and also we get to watch their relationships with one another blossom into unexpected blessings.

This is a tender story and one that will grab your heart. Springer does an outstanding job of allowing us to see the heart of each character, but most amazingly take part in watching them grow and seeing how God can bring beauty from ash.

This novel was a gift from Zondervan for sharing my review with you.
