Back in Mayberry........

Remember "Leave it to Beaver", "Andy Griffith", "Dont eat the Daisies", and so many more? Those were the days when you played outside all day, came in for lunch, went back out, and came in for dinner. You rode your bike, and caught frogs, played ball, and jacks with your friends. Mom always had dinner on just when dad was walking in the door. You could smell the food as she was calling you in. Dad would always tell how work was, and ask "what did you do today?". Dinner was a time of talking about it all, then at night all the great shows came on to watch as a family. We didn't have internet, cell phones, and texting. No video games, no t.v all day, and it went off at midnight. No stores were open on Sundays, you could not even get gas. No beer was sold on Sundays, it was family day. You caught fireflies in a jar, and used your imagination to play all sorts of things. People seemed to care, they went next door to say hello. It seems a lifetime ago, when all this was here. We have those elderly, who have so many beautiful stories, so much to teach and share. It was a time when I was just a child, but remember days so well. Times of simple life, a time that is no more. What a memory to have, of fireflies and "the Beav".
